Blogging
Today I’m sharing some thoughts I’ve had regarding why I blog and why I’ll continue to blog, and this article is the brain child of a couple of wonderful fellow bloggers I know who came up with the idea to do a group post on the subject. Thank you Ruth and Simply Stephen.
The question about why we blog and how or even if it can change the world is a good one to ask. It’s easy to go straight down that path of thinking ‘oh I must change the world: world hunger, world peace, world wars etc. It’s overwhelming to think in terms of those things and although I care about those things and do certain things to help improve the hunger and peace issues I don’t do that through blogging. (Not yet anyway.)
My blogging journey to date began when I felt the need to share information about the truth. The truth about who you can trust online to help you earn a living and who you might possibly be best to avoid in that regard. Well my focus changed from ‘calling out’ problem products and marketers to a more positive one where I myself became the change I wanted to see…cliche I know! Sorry.
So for me and my current circumstances; it’s important to me that I show people ways they can have some freedoms, some choices about how they might earn extra money. That there are alternatives and although they might take work they offer you choices.
I’ve enjoyed immensely the frankness in which I’ve been able to deliver my message here so far: have the ability to be free to pretty much say it as it is. I’ve been humbled by the support I’ve had from my readers and it’s really shown me that you can help people, you can change their world for the better and that in turn can have an affect on those around them and so on, just like a ripple.
My vision for blogging at MichelleAdams.com is to continue to share my knowledge that I believe will help others but also to impact on a much deeper level than I have to date. To help people take even bigger steps than they feel they have or could in their lives to date.
If I can change your day for the better, even if it’s just a tiny bit, then I’ve changed the world.

As a unique way of looking at what blogging really means, a few of us gathered together our thoughts on how blogging can change the world and our individual lives. This is what we came up with:
“Can A Blog Change the World?” by Ruth: “Blogging as an opportunity to use your voice for what you truly believe in, changing your world for the better”.
“My Blogging Vision” by Lisa: “”When I started blogging back in October of 2007, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I’ve seen a lot of changes in my life since then yet my vision for my blog remains the same.”
“My Blogging Journey” by Stephen: “Life has been a journey of twists and turns for me. As an introvert it has sometimes been a little bit too stimulating…if life has taught me anything, it is that the world is an amazing place with so many struggles, challenges, opportunities and stories from real people.”
“At the Speed of Blog” by Steve: “What I have seen in the way mankind has changed in the form of communication during my lifetime.”
“All About Me” by Donny: “All About Me – Well maybe not all. I wanted to take a minute and give everyone a chance to get to know a bit about who I am, how I got here, what I hope to accomplish and why I am looking to Internet Marketing and, more specifically, Niche Blogging for income.”
“Turning Dreams Into Goals” by Donna: “For the past year my dream has been to make enough money working online so that both me and my husband could work from home. We have a business that I currently run from home and I wanted to turn that over to him while I created websites.”
“Why I Blog and Why I’ll Continue to Blog” by Michelle: Inspired by others who ‘care’, I got to thinking about the world we all live in and how we have this amazing communication channel we know as the World Wide Web: I wondered if by blogging, can I change the world? Here’s some of the thoughts that quickly came to mind”
“Blogging Vision 2010” by Jen: “AkitaJitsu’s “Niche Blogging for Non-Techies” is all about answering technical questions about building niche blogs in a non-technical way. Jen (aka, Akitajitsu) started the blog a few months ago, and has written a plan for the blog’s future. She hopes this blog will become a popular resource for niche bloggers.”
“Blogging to Change the World – My World” by Leslie: “Blogging can be a hobby, something you do for fun. For me, it changed my world for the better. It made my life the dreamlife I always envisioned.”
“Niche Blogging” by Loren: “Making goals, missing goals and maintaining blogging relationships.”

I’ve always enjoyed your frank approach, especially since it is still done in a positive way. When I think about changing the world, I also agree that tackling those huge issues seems way beyond our reach. But even by doing something on an every day level, something that can help people in their own lives, can have an outward effect that we just don’t realise. This is what I hope anyway – just like Ric has said above

Thanks Ruth. Look at all the good you’ve created by coordinating this joint effort. Hopefully there other people now inspired to blog about things that they can do to make a difference.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree with Ric, one positive word can have a huge impact. I have experienced changes in my life from positive messages from several people, so I know it’s true.

Donna it’s an important point and often we can’t even express how a simple sentence can change our lives. I’ve definitely had a huge leap in my own self from a handful of blog posts by a new blogger. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

Michelle,
I love the reason behind your blogging, or at least the start of it
You have a great way of writing and although I don’t comment much, I do follow your blog.

The great thing about influencing positive change in just one person is that that one person usually goes on to influence another – and so on. One small change can actually add up to a lot – maybe not tackle world peace, but perhaps foster peace in a smaller way.

I love that Jen…”..foster peace in a smaller way.”
Thanks for your thoughts.

Michelle,
I’ve flattered you enough recently so I’m not going to feed your ego any more.
Your approach to a “one day journey of change” is excellent. You can’t take it all on at once but you can do it in steps. Thank you for taking those steps, I’ve enjoyed watching you from close to the beginning of the blogging part of your journey. Your support has meant so much to me….and you do make a difference.
Okay, so I lied about not feeding your ego anymore…have a carrot.
Oh…I remember you mentioned the discovery of a inverted comment post responses (or something like that). It is really sharp. What is the name of the plugin?

Thank you Loren. It’s nice to know people appreciate the things we all do online. It’s a big time commitment but most of the time it doesn’t feel like a sacrifice so I must really enjoy chatting huh. No surprises there.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.

Hi Michelle,
Great post! A lot of people think the internet is a bad place, but there are actually people who care, you care, we care! A lot of the internet-haters should read this article.
Thanks for a good read. Love your site!

All of us have something to share to make the world a better place and blogging is one way to do such. I believe that by helping others, we are making a contribution by means of improving the lot of the people we help. This has been the reason why I blog.

Blogging does have some influence. It wasn’t that long ago when I was asking somewhat what a blog was. Today we see the media bring in bloggers as experts all of the time. Even small, mostly unknown, blogs have the potential of finding the right place, time and subject to make a difference. A very thoughtful post

Thanks Brian! I think you’re absolutely right, every blog no matter how small, has the potential of finding the right place. Well said, love it!

To make the world a better place is not my goal ![]()
I just do can I do good and I have fun from it.
May be people will say me “Thank you”, but I write to my blog for myself. Just I like it

Well if you ‘do good’ you are making the world a better place whether you have it as your ‘goal’ or not.

The interesting thing about change is you never know who will affect you and who you will affect. One word from your mouth, in a positive tone, can change the way a person thinks about themselves. Then it goes viral.
Stay true to your course and let the rest take care of itself. A clear conscience is priceless.
