Do Follow Links – U Comment I Follow

Today I finalised my link love policy! The basics of the policy are that after five approved comments your links are followed, there should be no spamming and no affiliate links or links to offensive sites. Pretty easy. :) You can read the comment policy here.

Commenting on blogs is a great way to network. Not only are you interacting with the blog owner but you can connect with other people who comment too. I mentioned in my last post the value of an Internet coach, and that networking is critical to your success so if you haven’t started then now is the perfect time. Go and find some blogs in your area of interest and then onĀ  the ones that really impress you start networking! Other ways to network are via forums, memberships and courses.

If you really aren’t convinced that networking is worth your time and energy then I can only prompt you to read a recent post published by Yaro Starak. Yaro’s post covers off this subject in a lot of detail and some of his comments might surprise you. Areas covered are: You Are As Good As The People Around You, Your Peer Group Define Your Success, Role Models, Friends And Colleagues, Everywhere At Once, It’s Who You Know and Rising The Ladder Together. Out of all the amazing content in the post the part that really inspired me was on Rising The Ladder Together. Check it out: “You Are As Good As The People Around You.”

You might be aware that Yaro recently launched Membership Site Mastermind. I’d been on the lookout for a mentor to help me learn how to successfully launch and run a large membership site so am really thrilled to be working through the program now. When I invested in this course though I didn’t think of it solely as gaining a mentor on membership site mastery but also as another opportunity to network with other members in the course and especially with people in my own country.

Networking opportunities present themselves often and I know I’m always looking out for people to push forward with, people who are willing to work hard, support each other in our network and do everything we can to ethically help others and ourselves succeed.

If there is only one other thing you read today make it Yaro’s post, it really is full of gems when it comes to your success and the success of the people in your network.

I look forward to your future comments and hope you enjoy plenty of link love from my blog. :)

    Michelle,

I have built a great community of friends with comments. Offering and receiving comments on a blog is a fantastic way to interact with your readers. I encourage everyone to do some commenting.

What made you decide on this particular plugin? BTW…I love your comment policy, short and simple.

    Hi Stephen,

I chose the No Follow Free plugin because it had a 4.5 star rating in the WordPress Plugin Directory and it was also simple to install.

I like your policy on do follow links. Having run a couple blogs, I found that enabling general do follow often leads to spam, so your policy should do well to keep the promoters out as they won’t likely reach the 5 post requirements.

Have you seen much affect through this policy?

@Matin I have certainly seen more traffic arrive via the ‘do follow blogs’ search phrase in Google search. ;)

A lot of spam gets collected for me and I haven’t checked it in terms of whether it’s increasing or not…that’s not where I will spend my time.

Some comments I’ve approved that look legit only to discover the next day three useless contributions…..they get deleted of course. So there is that element of taking more than giving but most people are inherently good. :)

All that being said, I don’t have a problem with people seeking out do follow blogs so long as they take the time to read even a little bit and make a legit comment based on their honest opinion and or help others by what they have to share.

    Hi, Michelle
I’m not sure where to ask this, so I thought I would put it here. I notice that when you have created blogs, you often create two blog posts that are set up horizontally alongside one another, and then more are underneath and so on (instead of them being vertically stacked). I wondered if you are using the Artisteer for that, and if you can point me in the right direction to do that too. I’ve been trying to figure it out, and can’t figure it out. TIA!

    MichelleNo Gravatar (232 comments) Reply:

Kim I’m not sure which sites you’re referring to exactly. I tend to use Woo’s Gazette premium theme that has options to show posts different ways. I don’t think I’ve seen a way to show posts two abreast with Artisteer, it does have limitations but hopefully they’re working on adding more customisation features in the future.

Do follow links will sure help, but if more people comment, will the link value not get diluted?
