I've been using a new tool for keyword research that has really helped me, especially when I am writing a blog post. It's a little plugin from Wordtracker called SEO blogger. It allows you to do quick analysis of keyword as your write your post. It's a Firefox plugin.

Hi Michelle,

I totally agree. All these tools offer different results. I had the trial version of Market Samurai, which is great by the way, but found that I was getting zero results for words that were getting a lot of results using the Google Keyword tool. They're definitely a mixed bag.

One free tool I find useful is Traffic Travis that lets you analyze a page for certain keywords and will give you a score based on keyword desity and so on. I haven't tried the keyword search part of it yet though.

Hi Rob,
Like you, I've been using the Google keyword tool to find keyword phrases that have high search volume. Competition analysis then determines whether or not I use that keyword on my site/s. The other thing I use the Google tool for is to identify high Adword cost phrases. What that means is if I have Adsense on a site then if I choose keywords that are high cost there is more chance that the Adsense payout will be higher. This is what i like to call 'getting the most bank for you buck' or in this case, most monetary return for the time invested into the website content. I'll look at creating a post on the entire sequence in the future as I've had a couple of people request that now. Thanks for stopping by.:)

Michelle,

I agree this a great tool and it is free to boot. Can you share how you are using it to make money?

I have used it to identify keywords with decent search volume and a low number of competing pages. Then created pages targeted to these keywords.

Whala! These pages start to rank on the front page of google.

Now I just need more products related to the keywords.
